Ingredients:
2 ¼ teaspoons (1 packet) active dry yeast
1 ½ cups warm water (110°F/45°C)
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
1 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
3 ½ cups all-purpose flour (plus extra for kneading)
Directions:
In a large bowl, dissolve the yeast and sugar in warm water. Let sit for 5–10 minutes, until foamy.
Stir in the salt, melted butter, and 2 cups of the flour to form a smooth batter.
Gradually add the remaining flour, ½ cup at a time, until a soft dough forms.
Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for 8–10 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean towel, and let rise in a warm place for 1–2 hours, or until doubled in size.
Punch down the dough and shape it into a loaf. Place in a greased 9×5-inch loaf pan.
Cover and let rise for another 30–45 minutes, until doubled.
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the bread for 25–30 minutes, or until golden brown and the loaf sounds hollow when tapped.
Remove from oven and let cool on a wire rack before slicing.
Enjoy!
